The old vines

You really have to want some kindling pretty badly to be arsed doing all this work in silly heat.

Here we have a pile of old vines and lats ( lateral growth ) tangled up with wires, black plastic bin liner tied on to scare away the sanglier ( wild boar) (not me -wild bore)

Its all piled up so the fun part ( that's irony for my American friends ) is trying to pull the vines out without them springing back and scratching you all over... in 30 degrees.... madness !

According to my erstwhile intelligent sister ( whom I love ) this is all part of country life. I can't believe that this woman was once Lady Captain of the prestigious Bramhall Park Golf Club ( and my Bridge partner... remember the Grand Slam bid and made Pam ? and the old girls faces as we trounced them? Lovely ladies one and all ;-) ) and as she used to regularly remind me had her name on the baord for winning some Golfy things..... apparently this is as clever as singing.... I'm not convinced !
