Terroir de Languedoc Roussillon - Wonder if this will make Fitou or just vin du table?

Despite having the largest area of vines ( yes larger than all the other wine producing areas in France added together) and the best climate for wine production, Langedoc Roussillon is not famous for high quality wine.

It does however produce some of the best wines in the world by the new generation of young vignerons who are going biodynamic or as near as they can get. Our daughter in law has been importing the best stuff and providing private clients and some very high profile Restaurants like " la Caprice - London... " " Le Manoir - Oxford " and others I can't remember for a number of years.... is it 6 or 7 years Gemma or longer?

Check out her website http://www.terroirlanguedoc.co.uk/

My brother tells me she sells a fantastic red wine for £16 that the local cave near Ian's house in the Minervois sells for £2 more per bottle.... pretty cool ... what is it Ian, Gem, I can't remember......

Traditionally our local vines were used to provide wines for local people and much of it slung into the cave co op and the resulting wines shared amongst the villagers ( still happens in our village. ) We are loking forward to the Cassagnes Vendage when we will help our friends pick the grapes for their small vinyard and then we have a blooming great meal and a party to celebrate.... fab!
